Martin has been listening to a wide range of music from an early age, clearly evident from his list of influences, which include The beach Boys, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Wishbone Ash, War of the Worlds, Pink Floyd, Paul Weller, Supergrass, Stereophonics, The Verve, Stone Roses, Charlatans, James, Happy Mondays etc etc...
Obviously, the above list reflects a passion for great songs and, no doubt, has fuelled Martin's desire to pen his own.
Learning a little about Martin's life leads one to realise that the aforementioned artists aren't the only thing to have influenced the way he approaches his own songwriting. He's had his fair share of bad times as well as good and this brings a sense of realism and passion to his songs. This is well summed up in this extract from a Bluesbunny Independent Music review:
"You know what I like best about these songs? They are sung with the voice of the common man. Unlike so many male songwriters, Martin Livingstone doesn't spin his wheels in the mud of angst ridden self obsession. I don't doubt that he writes what he feels - and about what he knows about - yet he does so in a manner that convinces and that, my friends, is well over half the battle."
Here at Getout, we're really pleased to be playing our part in helping Martin reach a wider audience by handling the distribution of his ten track album A Million Miles From Nowhere, five track EP The Palace At The Top Of The Mountain and single I Believe In Love.
